Catching up with Omar Kabbani at El Porto Beach

It has been a while since I’ve hooked up on a surf day with Omar. This morning, the waves looked promising at El Porto beach so we decided to meet in the am and see if we can grab some good shots. It’s winter in LA, and it was sort of raining all night, so the ocean and winds were not at ease. It was also a cold morning (in LA terms).

There was almost no one at the beach but maybe one or two surfers. Omar did not have his short surfboard, but he did have an old board that he knew it would be hard to dive and swim in with it. And it truly was. He got into the water, but the current was compelling and kept throwing him off no matter how much he paddles. In the end, we realized, that the day was not right and we did not have the right surfboard either, so we decided it to call it a day and try another day.

It still was fun catching up with him and knowing that he’s moving to Long Beach soon.

I would love to hear your comments and thoughts about this shoot. Please, keep the conversation going. It is important to me as it will help me improve and grow. Till the next time!
